Institutional Review Board

Institutional Review Board (IRB)

In accordance with Health and Human Services Regulations for Protection of Human Subjects, an IRB composed of members from a variety of scientific disciplines as well as community members assists investigators in the protection of the rights and welfare of human subjects. The IRB also serves to facilitate valuable human subject research as well as protect the investigator and the institution through a comprehensive review process. All human research projects must be reviewed and approved by the IRB prior to initiation and then conducted in full compliance with IRB guidelines.

To that end, the IRB assures the protection of all human subjects in research projects conducted by anyone on the premises of Clarkson College and in research projects conducted elsewhere by faculty, students, staff, or other representatives and affiliates of the College.

Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI)

All key personnel involved with the conduct of human subjects research at Clarkson College must complete the required online CITI training modules in protection of human research subjects. New research protocols or continuing review of ongoing projects will not be approved until all key personnel have been trained and certified.
